The Exhibition Hall is one of the main attractions for visitors.

The Exhibition Hall, located on the ground floor, is one of the main attractions for visitors.

The Jesús Hermida Communication Center features an exhibition that allows us to delve into the concept of communication and journalistic profession in all its aspects (press, radio, and television), with Jesús Hermida, one of the most prominent figures in the profession in Spain, as the guiding thread.
This exhibition area, situated on the ground floor of the building, is the most striking space for visitors. They will have the opportunity to take a journey to not only learn about Jesús Hermida's extensive and successful career but also understand the evolution of the media, especially from the late 19th century to the present day.

An itinerary that takes place through four thematic axes: the press, radio, television, and digital technologies, considering Hermida's trajectory linked to each of these media. The exhibition features a large collection of personal belongings and curiosities of the journalist from Huelva, as well as other objects linked to the history of the media.

Among the most attractive elements of the exhibition, we can highlight:

  • Getting to know the figure of José Isidoro Morales, a native of Huelva and the father of Press Freedom in Spain.
  • Experiencing a linotype machine on-site, an invention from the late 19th century that revolutionized the press by facilitating printing.
  • Entering an analog radio studio, where programs and other spaces can be recorded, also learning how Huelva is a pioneer in the installation of public radio in Spain.
  • Recalling the importance of the man's landing on the Moon on April 20, 1969, through the role played by Hermida, a journalist who broadcast this historic event to millions of Spaniards through RTVE. Visitors can even take a memento in a unique photo booth that allows them to feel like a real astronaut for a few minutes. Exploring the interior of a television studio, with a set similar to those existing on Spanish Television (TVE).
  • Visualizing the current state of digital media, where social networks play a fundamental role.
